The Diaspora Relations Unit proudly participated in the Belize Diaspora Summit 3.0

The Diaspora Relations Unit proudly participated in the Belize Diaspora Summit 3.0, held from July 23–25, 2026 at the Grand Resort and Residences in Belize City. Over the course of three days, the Summit brought its theme, “Taste the Culture. Feel the Connection. Discover Opportunities.” to life through meaningful dialogue, cultural celebration, and collaboration.

The Diaspora Relations Unit was in attendance throughout the Summit, welcoming participants, engaging with visiting diaspora members, and sharing information on the Unit’s ongoing role in supporting Belizeans abroad while strengthening their connection to home. The Unit’s presence provided an opportunity  to facilitate conversations, build relationships, and highlight the services and initiatives available to the Belizean diaspora. Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, also participated as a panelist sharing valuable insights on diaspora engagement and the importance of building partnerships between Belize and its global community.

The first two days featured panel discussions that encouraged conversations on investment, digital transformation, finance, and diaspora engagement, as well as a Copalli mixer. These sessions underscored the vital role of the Belizean diaspora in supporting national development, while exploring new opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and growth.

Beyond the discussions, attendees experienced the richness of Belizean culture through events such as Savor Belize, which showcased the country’s vibrant performing arts, cuisine, and exceptional local talent. The Summit successfully promoted stronger connections between Belize and its diaspora, leaving participants inspired and better equipped to contribute to the nation’s continued progress. Saturday morning featured wellness events such as a 5k run and a pilates class.

The Summit concluded with an elegant Gala celebrating Belize’s rich culture through live music, authentic cuisine, and dance. The evening commenced with remarks by H.E. Nestor Mendez, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Belize to the Organization of American States, who emphasized the invaluable contributions of the Belizean diaspora and reflected on its enduring role in strengthening the nation’s development and global presence.

During the Gala, the Diaspora Relations Unit hosted a raffle featuring a basket of Belizean products as a token of appreciation for the diaspora members in attendance. Congratulations were extended to the raffle winner, Mr. Darnell Buller. The Gala served as a fitting conclusion to three days of meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange, and a renewed commitment to strengthening the enduring bonds between Belize and its diaspora.

The Diaspora Relations Unit extends its sincere appreciation to the organizers of the Belize Diaspora Summit 3.0 for their outstanding efforts in delivering a successful and impactful event. Their dedication to creating a platform for meaningful dialogue, collaboration, and cultural celebration has further strengthened the relationship between Belize and its global diaspora. We also thank all participants, partners, and stakeholders whose contributions made the Summit a memorable and inspiring experience, and we look forward to continued collaboration in building an even stronger Belizean diaspora community.
